Charles Hamilton Houston Internship Program Application -- 2022 - 2023

What the Houston Program Can Do for You

Internships can be powerful tools for students who are at the beginning of their career journeys -- but, it’s not always clear how to best maximize internship experiences or determine which one is the best fit. Even more so, it’s hard to know where to even start the search process.
The Charles Hamilton Houston Internship Program (“Houston Program”) is designed to help Amherst students discover, test, and define the lives and careers they wish to pursue after graduation through robust career development programming; assistance with securing substantive, meaningful summer internship opportunities; and, access to financial support for the summer.



By participating in the Houston Program, you will benefit from:

  • Workshops and programming designed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to build an effective summer internship search strategy across a broad range of industries.
  • Assistance with crafting resumes and other internship application materials that best highlight your unique set of experiences, strengths, and skills. 
  • Guidance via 1-on-1 appointments with advisors on finding, applying, and accepting offers for summer internship opportunities that match your career interests and development goals.
  • A tailored list of program-preferred internships hosted by organizations and companies who have hired Amherst interns in the past and/or are eager to hire in the future.
  • Eligibility to apply for stipends to provide financial support while completing an unpaid summer internship.

Please note that before you submit this application, you must have:

  • Attended at least ONE of the following Internship Preparation Workshops:

Introduction to Resume Building Workshop
Introduction to Cover Letter Writing
Introduction to Networking
Introduction to Networking Part 2: Information Interviewing

  • Had resume reviewed by a Peer Career Advisor (PCA) or Loeb Center advisor


STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM DURING THE 2022-2023 ACADEMIC YEAR DO NOT HAVE TO COMPLETE THE PREVIOUS STEPS BEFORE SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION





Application Steps


Step One: Click the green "External Application" button, which will take you to the external Submittable application platform.

Step Two: Follow the application instructions. Read each question carefully and compose thoughtful responses. You may preview the application questions on this page. Note that failure to complete the application may result in it being declined and returned to you for further editing.

Step Three: Submit your application.

You will receive an update on the status of your application ~5 business days after submission.
