Alumni-in-Residence: Sign Up for Virtual Office Hours with Dr. Alexandra Juhasz '86, Media Artist and Scholar

The Loeb Center's Alumni-in-Residence program is excited to offer 20-minute, 1-on-1, virtual office hour appointments with Dr. Alexandra Juhasz '86, media artist and scholar.

Whether you want to explore practical pathways into film/video production, understand how to connect with mentors in activist movements, or hear how to carve out space for the creative in your intellectual life at Amherst—you’ll find Alexandra to be a passionate, kind, and wise alum to meet. 

While at Amherst, Alexandra Juhasz '86 majored in English and American Studies, and was one of two students who participated in the founding of Amherst's Sexuality, Women's & Gender Studies major. Alexandra holds a Ph.D. in Cinema Studies from NYU and attended the Whitney Independent Studio program as a video maker. Her recent Fake News Poetry workshops engage participants in radical digital media literacy by creating humane responses to fake news and social media in the era of Covid-19. She writes about her cultural and political commitments in scholarly and more public platforms including Hyperallergic, BOMB, and Lambda Literary Review.

Dr. Juhasz currently serves as Distinguished Professor of Film at Brooklyn College, CUNY, and is a core faculty member in the Interactive Technology and Pedagogy Certificate Program at the CUNY Graduate Center.

These virtual office hour appointments present an especially great opportunity for resume reviews, in-depth questions about building on your own experiences, and learning more about media arts and freelance cultural writing.
