2021-22 Consulting Intern -- Loeb Center's Traub Careers in Business & Finance Program -

The Traub Careers in Business & Finance (CIBF) program is looking for a consulting intern to support the development, planning, publicity, and implementation of the consulting track. 

This position exposes the student-intern to a variety of relevant careers, employers, and opportunities in consulting. The intern is an instrumental member of the CIBF team and will help to develop innovative programming, events, and enhance alumni and employer engagement. The intern may also be involved in the development of programming related to general business and entrepreneurship as the Loeb Center increases an emphasis in this area.

Responsibilities include:
  • Publicize and promote workshops, panels, competitions/experiential learning and other programming related to Careers in Consulting
  • Work with the program director to develop programs and workshops that enhance the development and education of students considering a career in consulting including creating presentations and performing research 
  • Represent the Loeb Center at consulting related events on campus – manage setup, sign-in, etc. and occasionally facilitate introductions to speakers or guests 
  • Assist with mock interviews for student preparation and create/implement specific programming
  • Meet one-on-one with students interested in consulting to answer questions and assist with their career exploration 
  • Reach out to alumni, students, and faculty who work, intern, or do research relevant to consulting to conduct interviews and write up bios for Career Center materials
  • Develop and maintain databases related to employers and alumni in consulting
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Introduction to Consulting Workshop series, Consulting treks, and case interview preparation workshops
  • Other projects determined by the CIBF Program Director

Qualifications:
  • Expressed interest in consulting by participating in current program opportunities
  • Prior experience in case interviews (practice interviews, internship recruiting interviews, etc.)
  • Extremely well organized and detail oriented 
  • Ability to manage time and priorities; juggle changing initiatives; and work autonomously 
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills; strong confidence and assertiveness
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Poised and comfortable interacting with staff, faculty, alumni, employers and student groups; willingness to speak in front of groups 
  • Proven skills with Excel and PowerPoint

Expectations:
  • Work ~ 5-10 hours per week (potentially evening and weekend events)
  • Work is more time consuming in the fall (during recruiting season)

The position is for the entire 2021-2022 academic year, including training that will occur in the spring 2021 (with the current consulting intern) and will begin in the fall starting August 23, 2021. The pay is $13.50/hour. Current Sophomores and Juniors are encouraged to apply, but you must be at Amherst College the entire 2021-2022 academic year. Preference will be given to individuals who have participated in CIBF programming in their career exploration.
