Alumni-in-Residence: Sign Up for Office Hours with Dr. Wendy Halpern ‘88 of Genentech

The Loeb Center's Alumni-in-Residence program is excited to offer 20-minute, 1-on-1 office hour appointments with Dr. Wendy Halpern ‘88 of Genentech.

Dr. Wendy Halpern is excited to meet with current students who are interested in combining interests between human and veterinary pathology, biomedical science, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical development into a career trajectory. These 20-minute appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis and present an informal opportunity to converse with an alumna currently in the field and gain advice about navigating your career path post-Amherst.

Wendy graduated from Amherst in 1988 with a degree in Neuroscience and Psychology. She later earned both an M.S. in Veterinary Pathobiology and a DVM degree from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a doctorate in Biomedical Sciences from the Pathology department of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

Drawn by the appeal of biotechnology, she joined Human Genome Sciences in 2000 and subsequently transitioned to Genentech as a Scientist and Veterinary Pathologist in 2007. Genentech is dedicated to finding solutions for people facing the world’s most difficult-to-treat conditions, using cutting-edge science to create and deliver innovative medicines to patients in need around the globe.

In addition to specific project support at Genentech, she actively contributes to the nonclinical strategy and safety assessment for pediatric drug development, with emphasis on challenges in pediatric oncology.
