Alumni-in-Residence: Sign Up for Office Hours with Educator & School Administrator Cyndy Jean '07

Are you interested in pursuing a career in education, leadership, strategic planning & program development, or some combination of these areas?

Amherst College sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited to sign up for a 30-minute meeting with accomplished alumna Cyndy Jean '07 to discuss her own career path post-Amherst, learn more about self-advocacy, ask questions, and gain career advice in an informal, conversational setting. Cyndy has also offered to conduct mock interviews during these 30 minute slots. If you would like a mock interview, please bring a description for a job or internship for which you would like to be interviewed.

Cyndy Jean ‘07 is in her fifth year as the Director of the Middle School at Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY. She began her career at Hackley thirteen years ago as an assistant teacher in second grade. She then taught in the English Department and has coached field hockey throughout her tenure.

Cyndy holds a master’s degree in Private School Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University and a second master’s degree in Teaching and Special Education in Grades 1-6 from Fordham University. She is currently a Fellow in the National Association of Independent Schools’ Aspiring Heads Program, serves on the Fairchester Alliance for hiring and retaining faculty of color, and sits on the Board of Trustees for the Tree of Life Orphanage, a non-profit organization serving and educating over 200 children in Source Matelas, Haiti.

While at Amherst, Cyndy actively participated in programs held by the Black Student Union, served on the leadership team of the Bi-Semester Worship Committee, and sang with the Terras Irradient a capella group. She was a Black Studies major and completed the pre-med concentration.
