Alumni-in-Residence: Sign Up for Office Hours with Dr. Thierry Pauyo ‘05, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at McGill University

Dr. Thierry Pauyo ‘05 will return to campus on Monday, February 10, and Tuesday, February 11, to offer a limited number of office hours appointments to current students interested in medicine in general, orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and global health. These 20-minute, 1-on-1 appointments present an informal opportunity to converse with an Amherst graduate and gain advice about navigating your career path post-graduation.

Thierry attended Amherst College from 2001-2005, graduating with a degree in neuroscience. While at Amherst, he played ice hockey under Coach Jack Arena. He went on to obtain an MD with honors from Harvard Medical School before joining the Orthopedic Residency Program at McGill University. Thierry completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Pittsburgh University, where he collaborated with the NFL’s Steelers and the NHL’s Penguins. Before returning to his hometown of Montreal, he also completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the Boston Children’s Hospital.

Currently an assistant professor at McGill University in the Division of Orthopedic Surgery, Thierry also works as the sport orthopedic surgeon to the Montreal Canadiens. He is actively involved in research regarding osteochondral lesions and cartilage repair, and also dedicates his time to international aid efforts in orthopedic care. With Partners in Health (PIH) in Haiti, Thierry focuses on capacity building in orthopedic care in Cange and l’Hopital Universitaire de Mirebalais. There, he works on educational efforts and on creating partnerships with local health care providers.

Dr. Pauyo is excited to meet with current students, including student-athletes who want to translate their Amherst experience into a future career. Apply via Handshake with your resume to secure one of our limited slots!
