Queer Resource Center Outreach Coordinator

The Outreach Coordinator of the Queer Resource Center serves as a liaison to student organizations, campus departments and the Five College consortium. The Outreach Coordinator creates programs, services and events both within and outside the Center for the benefit of the Center’s community and the Amherst College campus community. 

Job Responsibilities: 
o Works (8-10) hours per week, including office hours and off-site work
o Attends regularly scheduled meetings, such as one-on-ones with the Center’s Director, staff meetings, and All-Center Staff In-Services

o Organizes, implement, or sponsor at least three (3) programs per semester, both with another student organization, Resource Center, or LGBT-related organization on/off campus

o Writes at least one (1) article or other contribution to PERSPECTIVES magazine

o Collaborating with staff members on advertising and implementing upcoming events (facebook, twitter, snapchat, etc.)

o Completes, submits and maintains files of paperwork associated with program planning, implementation and evaluation in a timely manner

o Delivers, receives, or executes any other tasks around campus

o Greets guests and creates a safe and welcoming space for all visitors

o Work directly with the Resource Center Administrative Assistant to complete task related to your position

o Work directly with the Program Coordinator in the MRC & WGC. Collaborating on a semester, Center wide program

o Participates in staff training and co-facilitates staff meetings 

Qualifications: 
o Must be a currently enrolled student at Amherst College.

o Must be in good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of employment.

o Must have demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to traditionally underrepresented students (including, but not limited to, Asian/Pacific Islander, Asian- American, African, Black, Chican@, LatinX, Native America/Indigenous, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Pansexual, and Asexual students).
