The Loeb Center's Alumni-in-Residence program is excited to offer 30-minute, 1-on-1, informational office hour appointments with advertising industry professional John Abodeely ’01.
Whether you want advice on essential skills to cultivate as a business leader, specific ways to connect experiences in public policy and the arts, or tips on how to advance your work as an artist—you’ll find John to be a kind and insightful alum to meet. These appointments provide a great opportunity for resume reviews, in-depth questions about building on your own experiences, and time to learn more about the intersections of the arts, advocacy, and leadership.
John Abodeely is the President and CEO of Oolite Arts, which provides artists with critical access to space and financial support. Prior to joining Oolite, John served as CEO of the Houston Arts Alliance, where he made grants to artists and organizations more transparent and equitable, and launched a groundbreaking Disaster Resilience program that integrated artists into emergency response, a bold model now looked to across the country.
As Acting Executive Director and Deputy Director of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, he championed landmark arts education and cultural diplomacy programs, raising millions in new funding and ensuring the arts reached classrooms and communities. His career has also included leadership roles at the Kennedy Center and Americans for the Arts. At Amherst, John majored in Biology and Fine Arts and went on to receive an MBA from Johns Hopkins University.
